A letter from the founder
I bought the first building on my own, and it very nearly finished me.
It was a period block off Bury Court, eighteen months of work, and it taught me the only thing I have needed since. A building on the right street forgives a great many mistakes. A building on the wrong one forgives none of them.
Everything the firm does now follows from that. We buy on a short list of streets where nothing further can be built, we fund the work ourselves so nobody can hurry us, and we build to the standard of the houses already standing there. It is a slower business than the one most of our competitors are in, and it is a considerably smaller one.
Twenty three years on we have completed thirty one schemes and turned down a great many more. I am more pleased about the second number than the first.

Finds the sites and negotiates them, usually off market and often two or three years before anything is signed.

Takes a site from consent to handover. Sits with the conservation officer, the architect and the contractor, and settles the specification before work starts.
Callum Fraser
Director of Sales and Client Relations
Handles every sale directly and stays in touch long after completion, which is where most of our resale instructions come from.
Isla Buchanan
Finance Director
Keeps the firm funded from its own balance sheet, which is what allows a site to be carried for four years when the planning route needs it.
